History

The Environmental Health Program at Concordia has grown successfully since 1995 when the Alberta government first funded its development. The CIPHI Board of Certification accredited the initial after-degree diploma (ADDEH) program in 1997. The Bachelor of Environmental Health (After Degree) was approved and certified in 2000.

The addition of graduate professional education courses since 2009 demonstrates our focus on academic needs of practitioners in the careers of public health. This has necessitated the recent change to renaming the Program to the Department of Public Health supporting both the undergraduate and graduate learning programs. Continued and effective collaboration with our partners, graduates, and colleagues will provide for a successful future.

The department of Public Health currently offers three Public Health Graduate Certificates:

  • Public Health Leadership
  • Public Health Strategic Communications; and
  • Public Health for Vulnerable Populations
